Project | Bibliotheek Almere

In 'De Nieuwe Bibliotheek' Almere, Studio Zebra created the interior concept and design for the News Café.
Because the News Café is the ultimate meeting place, Studio Zebra wanted to put people central. So that the café can function as a living room for all people in Almere; to meet each other and invite conversation or debate. Thus they came up with the concept "HUID" in which the overlap between man and book is summarized. In addition to its collection of newspapers and magazines, the News Café primarily has a social function within the library. The ultimate place to meet and enjoy. For Studio Zebra it was important to add the human aspect in the austere black/white/gray interior of the library. The entire News Café was therefore executed in different skin tones. For example, the wood of the custom cabinets, bar and furniture was stained from pale blonde to deep dark brown. The leather for the upholstery of the sofas and bar also has various beige and salmon pink tones. The lamps by Tonone are pink, from baby pink to vintage pink (Daybreak Rose).
