Tonone introduces Lumi
Dutch design label Tonone, led by designer Anton de Groof, expands its collection with Lumi: a modular brass candle holder. Known for its lighting fixtures and passion for engineering, Tonone adds a new chapter to its story. Constructive, thoughtful, and crafted with care, Lumi is a natural extension of the brand’s collection.
A new light on Tonone
The introduction of Lumi aligns with Tonone’s design philosophy, where technique and functionality form the foundation. Even without a cord or fitting, the same principle applies: every detail serves a purpose. This logic extends to the material choice as well. The candle holder is made of untreated brass — a material deeply rooted in the Tonone collection. Think of the signature wingnut, also crafted from brass.
Skyline of light
The modular candle holder consists of separate parts that slide together into a clean, graphic structure. The result is an object that is both technically refined and visually calm. Made from brass, Lumi is available in three sizes: small, medium, and large. The small version holds one candle, the medium three, and the large five. The sets can be connected to form a personal skyline of light. The varying heights create a playful composition, while the brass subtly reflects the candlelight and adds warmth to any space.
Designed for simplicity
While the form is refined, the construction remains surprisingly simple. Lumi consists of brass tubes and legs that can be assembled without tools.
The candle holder is shipped flat and fits through a standard mailbox, making it an ideal gift to send.
Additional information
The untreated brass of Lumi naturally ages over time, developing a unique patina. The candle holder fits traditional dinner candles and LED candles up to 22 millimeters in diameter. Tonone does not sell candles; users can choose their own to combine with the holder. Lumi will be available from 18 November at www.tonone.com.
