Warm light

In the world of lighting, there's a simple but important difference often overlooked: the contrast between white light and warm white light. While light comes in various shades and temperatures, warm white light brings a specific feeling of comfort and coziness. But what makes warm light so unique? And how does it differ from white light? In this blog, we will answer these questions and provide further explanation about warm light.

The difference between warm white light and white light

Warm white light and white light may sound similar, but they actually represent different color temperatures and atmospheres. Before we delve into the differences, let's first explain what Kelvin is.

Kelvin (K) is a unit of measurement used to gauge the color temperature of light sources. It refers to the hue of light emitted by a particular light source. In the context of lighting, color temperature determines how "warm" or "cool" the light appears. Light sources with lower Kelvin values produce warmer light with a more reddish tint, while light sources with higher Kelvin values produce cooler light with a bluer tint.

Warm White Light

Warm white light has a color temperature ranging from 2000K to 3000K. These hues create a cozy and inviting atmosphere. It is often used as ambient lighting in livingrooms, bedrooms, and other areas where comfort and relaxation are paramount. A lamp with a low Kelvin number is perfect for creating a warm ambiance.

White Light

White light has a slightly higher color temperature, usually between 3000K and 4000K. This light is brighter and more stimulating, making it ideal for functional spaces such as kitchens, offices, and workshops. Tonone also offers lamps with white light, which are perfect for an active atmosphere where brightness and concentration are essential. Take, for example, the 4000K Mr. Tubes with neutral white light. This design lamp is ideal for task lighting.

LED Lamps

LED lamps offer a wide range of color temperatures and do not have a fixed color temperature. Are you looking for an LED lamp that resembles a traditional incandescent bulb? Then opt for LED lamps with a color temperature around 2700K. Prefer a lamp that shines like white daylight? Then an LED lamp with 4000K is the right choice.

TL Lighting

TL is the common term for fluorescent lighting. The abbreviation TL stands for 'Tube Light' and refers to a type of fluorescent lamp. Fluorescent lamps emit light by heating or igniting gases. TL lighting is known for its efficiency and brightness, but it often has a cooler color temperature than traditional incandescent bulbs. For spaces where warmth and coziness are desired, cool white light may be less suitable. Tonone focuses on providing lighting solutions that are both functional and atmospheric, making the design lamps suitable for multiple applications.

Why choose LED lighting?

LED lighting offers several advantages over traditional lighting technologies such as incandescent bulbs, halogen lamps, and TL lighting. Here are some of the key benefits of LED lighting.

Long lifespan

LED lamps have a much longer lifespan than traditional lamps, lasting up to 50,000 hours. This advantage brings other benefits as well, namely, LED lamps need to be replaced less frequently, resulting in lower maintenance costs.

Safety

LED lighting contributes to a safe environment. Compared to traditional incandescent and halogen lamps, LED lamps emit much less heat. Additionally, they provide instant light without warm-up time. This ensures immediate illumination without delay, which is especially important in emergencies or areas where quick response times are required, such as stairwells, corridors, and parking garages.

Energy-saving

LEDs consume significantly less energy than traditional lighting. They convert a larger portion of electricity into light rather than heat, making them much more efficient. This can lead to significant energy savings and lower electricity bills.

Environmentally friendly

Because LEDs consume less energy and last longer, they produce less waste and have a lower impact on the environment. Additionally, LED lamps do not contain toxic substances like mercury, which is the case with TL tubes, for example.

Which Tonone lamp provides warm light?

In Tonone's design lamps, a light source is not always included, as with AtlasBellaElla, and Bolt. For these lamps, you need to find a light source with the right color temperature that suits the space and function where the lamp is placed or hung. For design lamps where the light source is included, such as ONEBridgeMr. Tubes, and Beads, you can check the technical specifications section on the product page to find out the color temperature, also known as Kelvin (K), of the design lamp.

Bridge

Bridge is a linear LED lamp that enables a graphical interplay of lines and allows for experimentation with composition. Made from recycled plexiglass, Bridge is available in the color Fog White and in two striking neon color variations: Lava Orange and Toxic Green. The transparency of the material creates an interesting layering effect and impressive light output. Bridge features an internal LED light source with a color temperature of 2700 Kelvin, also known as 'extra warm white', providing both brightness and ambiance. As atmospheric as you desire, as Bridge is dimmable.

ONE

ONE is a portable design lamp that can be taken anywhere. ONE is always used in combination with one of the fixtures: KnobWallDesk, or Floor. The LED lamp provides warm white light with a color temperature of 2700K. How bright the light shines? That's up to you. The lamp is dimmable on the fixture, allowing you to easily adjust the light of ONE to what you're doing.

Mr. Tubes

Mr. Tubes is a robust lamp design that combines pure functionality with graphic aesthetics. Mr. Tubes is available as a single or double pendant lamp, wall lamp, and as a chandelier. Or build one yourself with Mr. Tubes LED Connect. The LED tube developed by Tonone provides a uniform and bright light color due to the more than a thousand LEDs per meter. The lamp is dimmable, and thanks to the adjustable steel cables, the lamp can be hung at any height. Mr. Tubes LED is dimmable and available in 2 LED colors; the warmer 2700K and cooler 4000K.

Beads

The Tonone Beads collection is designed to fit into any environment. The minimalist design gives the series a modern, powerful look and excels in functionality. With the rotatable and tiltable LED ring, the dimmable Beads is a versatile solution for any situation. The Beads is available as a pendant lamp, wall lamp, floor lamp, and table lamp.

The lightweight Beads is made of black powder-coated aluminum and features a high-quality integrated LED light source. The warmth of the light ranges from 2100K to 3000K (dim to warm). In other words, the color temperature becomes warmer (more yellow/orange) as the lamp is dimmed. When the lamp is at full brightness, it produces a cooler light similar to daylight. As the lamp is dimmed, the color temperature gradually shifts to a warmer light more akin to candlelight or sunset.
